Here is a very unusual attic find from a WW II vets attic. It is a compleat unused fishing set with bamboo rod and 3 different tips of diferent weight. 11 flies 5 sets of string small hooks and lead weights and odd bits The line is unopened and are the packages and rapper on rod handle as can be seen in the pictures. It is marked Sport Mans Fishing Rods and Tackle Gold tiger made in Tokyo Japan. The box is 34″ long 3″ wide 2.75″ tall closed up. It weighs about 2#. This is a very rare set to find in new old condition. Perfect for a fishermans collection. I have listed another set. They are both unused but one is more for fly fishing and this is for both.

Believed to be made for Wayne Hardware in Ft. Wayne, IN 3 piece rod, with cloth wrapping and metal case. All eyelets are in excellent condition with no damage. Rod shows some wear, but still in great condition. Comes with an extra tip for the rod. Metal case shows wear, but no major defects. Great piece to be in any ones’ collection. 7.5′ 2pc/2tip WES JORDAN 290 TAPER, built by master craftsman Leo deMonbreun with Tim Zietak blanks. This BAMBOO FLY ROD could be the “missing link” in the evolution from bamboo to fiberglass to modern fibers. This is a 7.5-ft. 2-piece rod with extra tip section, made on the classic Wes Jordan 290 taper, hand-built. All sections straight & same length; blued ferrules are tight and give a loud “pop.” Blanks are a rich, dark honey color, with at least three coats of marine-grade spar varnish. Wrappings are a pretty chestnut silk with black tipping; caramel agate stripper with blued light wire chrome snake guides and hook-keeper. Extra fine quality cork reverse Wells grip; blued reel seat with cedar spacer; down locking cap & ring-type hardware. Action has feel of a medium-fast flex; I recommend 4-wt. Cortland Sylk DT, or a Cortland 444Peach 5-wt. WF. Sock is original flannel cotton cloth; REC aluminum tube. This rod was only slightly used.
